Star the pages you use every day and build a personal workspace of live tiles, so F&O opens to exactly what you need to see.

If getting to your most-used screen in F&O still means navigating the same three-click path every single day, you are paying a small tax on every task you do. Favorites and personalized workspaces exist to collapse that path down to one click, and a live tile can even tell you the number before you click anything.

The idea in one minute: Your own front door into F&O

A workspace is a landing page you design, built from tiles that link straight to the screens and lists you use constantly. A live tile does not just navigate, it shows a count, like open purchase orders awaiting approval, so you know whether something needs attention before you even open it.

1. Star a page as a favorite – Easily find pages you access each day

  • Navigate to any page you use regularly. For this example, I will use Accounts receivable -> Orders -> Shipped but not invoiced sales orders
  • Click the star icon next to the page title in the top bar.
  • Open your favorites from the star menu any time to jump straight there.

    2. Build a personal workspace with live tiles

    • On your main landing page, you can create a new workspace, simply click on “Home” and then right click -> Personalize: Workspace, then + Add a page

Once you choose to add a workspace, you can then give it a name, for this example, I chose “My Command Center”

Once it is saved, you will find it at the bottom left of all the workspace tiles on the main page, then click into it to view.

When you do this, you will find that it is completely blank, and now it is time to fill it up with tiles that you regularly access

Begin by going accessing your favorites: For this example, I start with “Shipped boy not invoiced sales orders” -> Options -> Add to workspace -> Choose “My Command Center” from the list

I then name my tile, indicate I want to see a count, and the tile size:

You then choose “Add to workspace.” To verify, go back to the new workspace you created.

In my role there are some other areas I check on a daily basis right away, so I want to add those to my personalized workspace as well, Once I have those added I can change the size of the tiles and move them around so they are organized as I prefer:

Virtually any page that you regularly visit can be added to a workspace to make navigation more streamlined. You can also add tiles to existing workspace that you use, build it from scratch or modify existing, the world is your oyster 🙂

The one-time setup, in plain terms

The first time you try to set up your own workspace, it could might be touch and go. It can take some playing around to figure out what really makes sense for you. If there’s an out of the box workspace that is build perfectly for you, use that. However, if you find you are constantly clicking around to different workspaces or pages each morning to get a high level understanding of where your day needs to start, a custom workspace could be the answer for you.
