The self-assessment Finance runs to identify configuration and governance gaps that have accumulated since go-live, a scoring framework across six Finance-critical domains, the improvement prioritization methodology, and the evidence Finance should be able to produce on demand for any auditor, CFO, or board inquiry about the quality of D365 F&O’s Finance configuration.

How to Use This Health Check
Conduct this assessment with the Controller or CFO sponsoring it and the senior Finance manager completing it. Budget two to three days for a thorough, evidence-based assessment—do not complete it from memory. Pull the actual reports, review the actual configuration, and score each item based on what exists, not what Finance intends to build. The maximum score is 150 points across six domains of 25 points each. Score at the minimum demonstrated state: if the AP aging reconciliation is sometimes archived and sometimes not, score it as if it is never archived.

Scoring Guide
Total the points earned across all six domains. The maximum possible score is 150 points.

What’s Next in the Series
The health check reveals where Finance stands with D365 F&O. The series continues with the governance and operational excellence topics that Finance leadership owns across the platform: D365 F&O Period Close Governance—Driving Close-Time Reduction Across a Complex Legal Entity Structure—advanced Closing Cockpit configuration for multi-entity environments, the Finance-led close performance analysis methodology that produces measurable close-time reduction, and the five period-close governance failures that keep Finance organizations running a 12-day close on a platform designed to support a 6-day close.
